What are the figures running from left to right at the top of the table …years ?? it does not say.

And what are the decimal figures at the intersection of the tank size given in litres and is it the number of people across the top ? are the decimal figures an indication of frequency in years?
As the rate of accumulation of sludge or ash is very different in aerobic and anerobic systems ..whats the logic behind this ?

Yea well spotted Joe. This table was provided by Phil Hogan as a guideline for Septic Tanks only and does not include other types on onsite wastewater treatment system. The colum on the left is the capacity of your septic tank in litres, once selected you then go to the top colum and selct the number of people living in the house, and where the 2 colums meet is the frequency in years between each desludge. For example if you have a 3,400 litre septic tank and 6 people living in the house the desludging frequency is 1 year. I hope this helps, and thanks for your comment.
